Squier Fat Stratocaster Review for Beginner Guitar

Squier Fat Stratocaster Review for Beginner Guitar

The Squier Fat Stratocaster is a powerful piece of music potential. With a throwback look that is more 1970’s than 2011, this guitar is built for playing. It is made of durable materials with a decent enough finish to frustrate the more common ways that one accidentally damages a guitar. In addition, as a plus for beginners, the Squier Fat Stratocaster holds its tune decently due to its efficient construction and six standard die cast tuners. The oversized headstock immediately brings one back to a time that guitars dominated music. The pickguard is a beautiful addition to a solid instrument.

With three pick-ups and twenty-two frets, the Squier Fat Stratocaster gives a novice the tools to begin a musical journey well prepared. It is a great guitar to take the first steps toward blues or classic rock licks or even to Squier Fat Stratocaster progress through chords. The sound is typically full with play being easy on the more than adequate fingerboard. Using decent quality strings will maximize the performance of this guitar.

While there have been reports of problematic sound quality associated with the Squier Fat Stratocaster, this should not scare away a potential buyer. A quick play of the guitar or communication with a music store employee can relax the tension. Typically, the Squier Fat Stratocaster has had some issues with the low e string buzzing. However, lowering the action can quickly remedy the situation. This is a decent guitar, that is durable and at a decent price for a beginner.

I agree, sound quality shouldn’t be an issue with any electric guitar, let alone a learner guitar, simply because it’s so easy to change the sound if necessary.
Budget and learner guitars usually have very cheap pickups, and simply changing these to a decent set of Seymour Duncans or EMG’s makes any cheap guitar sound 100% better straight away.

It was so cool to watch the video of that guitar solo. I don’t exactly hang out with musicians or go to venues where live bands play, so I don’t get a chance to see someone show off their skill. I guess you could say I am easily impressed. I would like to learn how to play the guitar. Until I found this web site, playing the guitar has been nothing more than a fleeting notion – a pipe dream. But I must admit, the more I read and learn, the more this manifests into a real goal of mine. Since I don’t coexist with musicians, I really get inspired by the demonstration videos on this site. I hope you keep publishing more of them.

As a beginner guitarist I really appreciate this article the information about the Squier Fat Stratocaster was great information and as I am in the market for a guitar at this time I am definitely going to research these some more before I make a decision. I was previously looking at the RG and a beginner package that come with it, does this guitar come with a beginner package as well? Do you know if the Squier Fat Stratocaster and the RG sound somewhat the same or are they completely different? If there is any other advice you can give me on these that would be greatly appreciated.

My first guitar was a squire strat. Looks like Clapton’s fender strat but you probably aren’t going to pull that kind of sound out of it the first time.

But it was a really good beginning guitar. Got it packaged with an amp for a really reasonable price and I was on my way. I was later able to give it to a friend who was starting playing guitar.

Since many people get discouraged and quit when learning an instrument, I found the squier to be the perfect first guitar.

Thank you for the information you provided in this article, I am getting my son a guitar for Christmas this year and he is definitely a beginner so this sounds perfect. Do you know what kind of beginner package it comes with or if it comes with one at all? I was also wondering about a Wah pedal for one of these, you made a comment about the sound of this particular guitar, would a Wah pedal help at all or would it make things worse? Any further advice you could reply to my comment with would be much appreciated and I am sure most helpful. It really shows that you know what you are talking about in the way you posted the information in your article, I look forward to see more information from you.

      Hi Nancy,

The packages change constantly. I have seen some nice packages recently on both Amazon and eBay. You really don’t need to spend a lot to get started, just the basics. Instead of a wah wah pedal you
should look for an amp that has a good tone, with some effects built in. He’ll probably want to upgrade soon anyway :-)

This is great news I know what to get my grandson now for Christmas. Does this come with any attachments like a wah pedal or any music or anything or is it just the guitar itself? Where is the best place to go to get one of these or is this something I am going to have to order and hope it gets here on time? Is the price comparable to ones like the RG that has a starter package that comes with it? Your article was great and I appreciate the help you have provided if you have an answer to any of my other questions please make a reply to this comment as soon as you can.

This will be very helpful in my decision process of which guitar to get my husband for his birthday. He has just recently taken up playing the guitar but he is very talented, I think it comes from being in band when he was in school he is just musically inclined. So I want to get him a starter kit basically that will include extra strings, picks, a stand, sheet music, an amp and anything else I can get, but I also want one that he can add to as he gets better. The information you have given me will aid me in my research, thank you so much for your expertise.

This is great news, I was discussing just the other day with a friend of mine which one would be better for a beginner the RG or this one and he was telling me if it were him he would get this one. You article just confirmed what he was telling me already. I am getting my son a guitar for Christmas this year and he is definitely a beginner so this sounds perfect. Do you know what kind of beginner package it comes with or if it comes with one at all? And do you know if he wanted to at a leter date could he add thing to this guitar like a Wah pedal? I was wondering about a Wah pedal because you made a comment about the sound of this particular guitar, would a Wah pedal help at all or would it make things worse? Any further advice you might have in order to make this decision as easy as possible would be great. It is obvious that you know what you are talking about and I want to get my son something he can use for years to come so thank you in advance for your help.
